Focus Verses:
John 6:66-69
66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

Insight:
Many people turned away from following Jesus when they found his teaching difficult to accept or understand. When Jesus turned to the twelve disciples he had chosen and asked them if they too wanted to turn away, Peter made one of his great statements of faith: “We believe and know you are the Holy One of God.” Peter had found life and hope in Jesus he could find nowhere else: "Lord, who else would we follow? Who else has the words of life?"

Response & Action:
I believe that Jesus is the Holy One of God. I follow him because he has the words of life. Even when his words are difficult, I will follow. I believe that he is the bread of life, the one who can sustain me, and the one who will raise me on the final day. Nothing else and no one else has offered the hope, purpose, and life I have found in Jesus.

O God, thank you for Jesus, who for our sake and for our salvation came down from heaven. Help me to follow him, to take in all he has to say, and to build my life on the solid rock of his words by putting them into practice. Through Christ, I pray. Amen.

Spiritual Formation Verses: John 10:9-11
9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
