August 22 - What is Good

Today's Reading:
O.T. - Micah 4 - 7
N.T. - 1 John 1

Focus Verses: Micah 6:8

8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Insight:
God wants his people to live their lives in justice, mercy, and humility.

Response and Action:
To live out justice we must treat others and their interests with fairness, empathy, and dignity. To live out mercy we must extend forgiveness and grace when we are mistreated. To walk humbly requires a faith in God's presence and promise and to understand that his blessing toward us is rooted in his goodness, grace, and mercy.

O God, you are just and good in all your ways. Thank you for your mercy toward me. Help me to delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your name. Help me to be just, merciful, and humble as I walk with you in the footsteps of Jesus by the power of your Spirit. Amen.

Proverbs: 22:4
"Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life."
